The Joint Administration Matriculation Board (JAMB) corrected of registration data of the candidates who participated in the UTME examination and the ones who are applying as a Direct Entry candidate to make amendments to their data like the change of institution and course. 

The change of data is limited to candidates making amendments to their data like the change of date of birth, phone number, email,  and complete name. This means that you can't change any other thing except your choice of course, your institution, and misspelled names.

Like emphasis more on what data can be changed on the JAMB platform.

Data that can be changed

Correction of misspelled names is allowed for candidates who have made a minor error, such as missing a letter or swapping one letter for another. For instance, if a candidate wrote "Amhed" instead of "Ahmad." However, it's important to note that complete changes from one name to another, like "Peter" to "Paul," are not permissible through this amendment process.


Change of Course/Institution: The change of course/institution allows candidates to switch from one course/institution to another. This can be done immediately after the UTME examination.

Change of Gender: This option permits candidates to rectify errors in their gender details. To initiate this correction, candidates must provide supporting documents and fill out an indemnity form, which should be submitted to the institution.

Change of Local Government of Origin: Candidates can use this option to modify their local government of origin. Supporting documents are required, and candidates need to fill out and submit an indemnity form to the school they applied to for approval.

Data that Cannot be Corrected:

1. Phone Number: Corrections for phone numbers are not possible since they remain unchangeable.
2. Email Address: You cannot change your email address after it has already been used.

N2,500(Two thousand five hundred Nigeria Naira). Foreign candidates can convert it to their designated currency

Where Can I Do JAMB Correction of Data?

Data corrections, such as change of course/institution, can be done on the JAMB platform or at its state office. For corrections like date of birth, state of origin, gender, and misspelled names, visit the JAMB state office, as this option has been removed from the website.

If choosing a JAMB-accredited CBT center, specify the type of correction you want when you arrive.

If opting for a self-service approach, follow the instructions below:

1. Create a JAMB Account:

  • Visit www.jamb.gov.ng using a compatible browser.
  • Click on the menu bar at the top right corner.
  • Scroll down to CAPs (Candidates) E-facility and open the login page.
  • Click "Create an Account" for new users or enter your email address and password for existing users.

2. Provide necessary details for account creation

First name, surname, mobile number, state, local government of origin, and password for account access.

Now that you have registered an account on the JAMB website, let's explore how to change your course/institution.

Step to correct your jamb course/institution.

Once you have successfully login as I described above, you will be taken to the page where you can change your course/institution like the picture below.

1. Select "correction of data" which is available on the menu bar.

2. Once selected, the page for the correction of data will be displayed on the screen.

3. Click on the link for the Transaction ID to be generated for you on the page.

4. Copy and save the Transaction ID. It will be required for further verification.

5. Click the "continue button" if you want to pay with your debit card.

NoteIf you choose another payment platform like a bank to make your payment, make sure that you take your Transaction ID with you.

6. Continue by entering the card details on the form display and click on the "payment button" to continue.

7. Once the payment is completed and your payment receipt is displayed with a verification mail on the page, click continue.

8. You will be redirected to enter your exam year and jamb registration number.

9. Once submitted, a pop-up option box will display on the page.

10. Choose the one you want and submit it.

Boob! You have successfully corrected your data on the Joint Admission Matriculation Board(JAMB) website. 

Remember: To rectify errors in details such as date of birth, state of origin, gender, and misspelled names, please visit the JAMB state office. Note that this option has been removed from the website.
