How to rank on Google's search

We understand that appearing on Google's first page has been a challenging task for many businesses. That's why we have prepared this timely article for you.

It is worth noting that ranking a website on the first page of Google search results requires a combination of various strategies and techniques.

In this article, I will provide the top strategies you can use to achieve a high ranking on Google's first page. These strategies have been proven to be effective when implemented correctly.

But, what do we mean when we mention Google's first page? Let first  of all know what it means, then, I will show you how to be on it

What is Google's first page?

The first page of Google refers to the content that is displayed on a user's screen when they perform a search query. Typically, this page presents a list of ten results from various websites that have published content relevant to the search query.

For example, If I search for "popular snacks in the USA", the first pages that show all relevant results on my screen without navigating is the first page

These results are displayed in order of their perceived relevance and usefulness, as determined by Google's complex algorithms.

The Importance of Google's First-Page Rank

Whether you own a business or run a blog on Google, it is crucial to ensure that your products or content are discoverable on search engines. Achieving a presence on the first page of search results is essential for driving sales, increasing website traffic, and generating valuable leads. The reality is that if your website does not appear on the first page of a Google search, its visibility and potential for success are significantly diminished.

According to our research, approximately 75% to 80% of users tend to focus on the first page of search results. This is because they typically find what they are looking for on the first page. The likelihood of users searching for information on the second, third, or subsequent pages of Google and other search engines is very low. The click-through rates (CTR) dramatically decrease as you move to subsequent pages.

Users are more likely to find the information they need within these initial results, which is why achieving a high ranking on the first page is highly desirable for businesses and website owners

How to rank on Google's first page

There are essentially two primary methods to achieve ranking on Google: organic ranking and online advertising platforms.

Let's delve into these two approaches and determine which one is best suited for your needs.

Organic Ranking: How to Incorporate It

Organic ranking refers to the process of improving your website's visibility in search engine results without paying for advertising. If this is your aim, this is how you use it to rank on Google's first page.

Note: This is not a quick-to-rank method. It relies on consistent and patient

1. Do a keyword research

Keywords research helps you understand the search queries your target audience is using. It is essential to perform proper research before publishing a blog post, as simply writing random content and expecting it to rank without considering search demand is not a viable strategy. Without aligning your content with what people are searching for, it is unlikely to gain visibility.

To ensure your content resonates with your audience and attracts organic traffic, conducting keyword research related to your niche is crucial. For instance, if you run an e-commerce website specializing in luxury items like men's and women's shoes, understanding what people are buying in a specific region or time requires keyword research. This research enables you to identify relevant topics that can improve the visibility of your online store when customers search on Google.

Here's an example of how you can leverage a keyword research tool, specifically Google Trends, to gain insights:

1. Visit Google Trends (https://trends.google.com) or access it through a search engine.

2. Enter your desired keyword or phrase, such as "men's shoes," in the search bar.

3. Explore the search results to understand the trend patterns, regional interest, and related queries associated with your keyword. This information can help you identify popular topics or subcategories within your niche.

As you can see, keyword research will help you to know what's trending in your niche.

By utilizing tools like Google Trends, you can gather valuable data and make informed decisions about the content you create. This allows you to align your online store with the search intent of potential customers and increase your chances of ranking higher in search engine results.

2. Write a comprehensive people-first content

When it comes to search engines like Google, they prioritize articles that cover all aspects of a given topic, rather than those that only touch on a few aspects.

In December 2022, Google implemented a helpful content system update, which introduced a new content bot designed to identify and remove unhelpful or insufficiently comprehensive content. Such content is often considered "doorway" content, lacking any practical value for readers.

Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that you cover every aspect of the topic you are writing about. However, it's equally important to maintain high-quality content, as quantity alone may not suffice if the writing is subpar.

People-first content: According to Google, people-first content refers to content that primarily addresses the needs of users, rather than attempting to manipulate search engine rankings. Google considers a range of factors to assess whether content demonstrates aspects of experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness (E.E.A.T.).

For example, let's say you are writing an article about camping. Instead of merely covering the basics of setting up a tent, people-first content would delve into various aspects, such as choosing the right camping gear, selecting suitable camping locations, preparing meals outdoors, and sharing safety tips. This comprehensive approach caters to the diverse needs of readers, providing them with valuable and engaging information.

Remember, when creating content, prioritize the needs and interests of your audience while maintaining a high standard of quality. By doing so, you increase the chances of your content being recognized and appreciated by both readers and search engines like Google.

Let your content be unique:
Creating unique content is essential for achieving better rankings on Google. When Google's John Muller was interviewed about writing on a topic that has already been covered, he explained that it can be challenging for such content to rank higher than existing articles in Google's database.

According to Muller, there is no restriction on writing about a topic that others have already covered. However, if you aim to achieve a high ranking, your content needs to be exceptional and provide more comprehensive details compared to your competitors. Additionally, it should be unique, and you can enhance it by including relevant images and charts.

By focusing on creating extraordinary and original content, you increase your chances of standing out and gaining visibility in search engine results.

3. Optimize your on-page SEO

Writing quality content alone, without proper optimization, may not yield the desired results. Search engines place considerable importance on how your content is presented on the page.

One crucial aspect of content optimization is the use of heading tags. Google recommends appropriately utilizing HTML heading tags (such as h1, h2, h3, etc.) when creating web page content. While heading tags may not directly affect page ranking, they play a vital role in helping both users and search engines understand the structure of your content.

It is recommended to use the h1 tag for the main title of the page. Subheadings and further divisions within the content should be assigned h2, h3, h4, and so on, tags.

Regarding keyword usage, Google's John Muller advises incorporating keywords into relevant page headings. He emphasizes the importance of making the topic of your page as visible as possible.

I would recommend that if there’s something that you want to tell us that your page is about, make that as visible as possible.

So don’t just put that as a one-word mention at the bottom of your article. But rather, use it in your titles, use it in your headings, use it in your subheadings, use it in captions from images…

All of these things, make it as clear as possible for users and Google when they go to your page that this page is about this topic.

Avoid keyword stuffing, which means adding a particular type of keyword to every heading tag or page content without relevance. It's important to maintain a balanced and natural use of keywords throughout your content.

4. Write more than your competitors

One effective strategy to maintain a competitive edge over your rivals is to increase the amount of content you produce. It is advisable to regularly create articles on fresh and relevant topics. Why is this important? Websites that are frequently updated tend to be crawled more frequently by search engine bots, particularly Googlebot, as it prioritizes discovering new content.

Many of your competitors have been active in the industry for several years, and a significant portion of their content has already gained recognition from Google, thereby increasing their visibility. These competitors consistently engage in writing activities to enhance their online presence.

Have you ever wondered how much content your competitors generate? Is it just 10 posts per month? Not at all. They produce much more than that.

To outperform your competitors, it is crucial to surpass their content output. It is recommended to aim for at least 2 to 5 posts per week, totaling 10 to 16 posts per month. By consistently producing high-quality content, you can increase your chances of attracting organic traffic, improving your search engine rankings, and staying ahead of your competitors in the digital landscape.

5. Optimize various technical issues on your site

Even if your content is exceptional, Google may disregard crawling and indexing it if your website's health is weak. If your website is slow to load or has a disorganized site structure, Google may not display it in search results. Therefore, it is crucial to optimize any issues that could hinder Google's access to your site. Find out in the article -  The Ultimate Guide to Maintaining Your Site's Health

Online Advertising ranking

If you are eagerly anticipating taking your website to the forefront of competition and swiftly delivering your services, there are two paths you can consider. The first option involves patiently waiting for your site to naturally climb the ranks over weeks or even months, relying on organic methods to enhance its visibility. However, if time is of the essence and you wish to rapidly secure a prominent position on the coveted first page of Google, online advertising presents itself as a viable alternative.

Distinguished from the organic ranking approach mentioned earlier, the online advertising method demands financial resources to ensure seamless execution. While organic ranking depends on optimizing your website's content, structure, and overall performance, online advertising provides an opportunity to gain immediate exposure by promoting your offerings through paid advertisements.

By investing in online advertising, such as pay-per-click (PPC) campaigns or display ads, you can strategically position your website in prime spots on search engine result pages (SERPs) and relevant websites. This method enables you to leapfrog over competitors and instantly capture the attention of your target audience.

There are various programs available for advertising your website, each with its advantages and features. One of the most popular options is Google Ads, which allows you to promote your website through targeted online advertising. In terms of social media platforms, you can also utilize Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others to reach a wider audience and increase visibility.

Regardless of the program you choose, it is crucial to conduct thorough research and understand how it works. This will enable you to make informed decisions about your advertising strategies and maximize the effectiveness of your campaigns. Understanding the mechanisms, targeting options, and analytics provided by these advertising programs will help you optimize your website promotion efforts and achieve better results.

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, there are two primary ways to achieve a high ranking on Google's first page: organic ranking and online advertising campaigns. Both methods have the potential to improve your website's ranking, but the choice ultimately depends on individual preferences and circumstances.

If you value long-term sustainability, building organic rankings through consistent and high-quality content is a recommended approach. This method requires patience and dedication to optimizing your website's content, ensuring it aligns with relevant keywords and provides value to users.

On the other hand, if you are seeking quicker results and are willing to invest in paid advertising, an online advertising campaign can be a suitable option. By leveraging platforms like Google Ads, you can create targeted ad campaigns to increase your website's visibility and attract relevant traffic.

Ultimately, the decision between these two options depends on your specific goals, resources, and timeline. It's essential to evaluate your priorities and consider factors such as budget, time constraints, and the nature of your business before making a choice.

If I may ask, which one are you going for?
